Vaux le Vicomte castle

Built for Nicolas Fouquet, superintendent of finance (minister of finance) of Louis XIV, the "Sun king"
by architect Le Vau, parden engineer Le Nôtre and painted by Le Brun.

But after he held a big celebration for the king,  he was arrested and the castle confiscated.
Colbert investigated his books and found proof that Fouquet embezzled funds from the state.

The garden is also spectacular

Surrounded by a moat, the back side(facing the garden with nice sculptures) of the castle is as spectacular as the front
